- I enjoyed the conference
- One, get elected officials to conference, two, suggest _ day, starting with lunch, “Keynote”, through the afternoon to cocktails at 6 p.m. (social hour), this will insure better and m ore sustained turnout.
- Don’t let this be the end . . .how do we keep people involved, especially those business and government leaders that can lead the implementation.
- Need elected officials at this event – they need to be enlightened!!!!
- I thought whoever asked the panel “where is the diversity in this room and on this panel” had an excellent point. I think there are some large communication problems between urban and suburban areas as well as between public and private entities. I thought the discussions and presentations were very good, but one sided. How can you know what the “opposition” thinks or why they oppose it, if you do not invite them to have a voice. I think much of the opposition is due to communication misunderstandings.
- Keep the process rolling on! Good job by all! – David needs a raise!!
- Expand the message “beyond” preaching to the choir. Follow up with written record and make copies of videotape of morning session available.
- Implementation is the key. Major “stakeholders” such as developers, “politicos”, etc. need to be brought on board. This can be done with education, personal contact, and public opinion.
- Excellent effort in the process of moving the city toward where it ought to be – thanks!
- Great conference . . . next steps will depend on individual commitments and follow through. Also pointed out another issue . . .that of the lack of knowledge and interest on the part of Harris Co.
- I Am unhappy that the role of rapid public transit in quality of life we not developed, especially that diversity was entirely avoided – namely the virtues of elevated rapid transit (a.k.a. monorail) for development of Houston were not mentioned.
- Motivating and invigorating and inspiring! Lots of positive directed energy in the room. Great panel
- Enjoyed today’s conference, it was organized and well planned out. Suggestion: I would hope that this conference and future conferences like this would later serve a committee(s) to initiate the smart growth concept and to decide the next couple steps that are needed to stabilize vision – panel discussion was a great idea as well as small group discussions.
- Good presentation from David Crossley – but – get more “doers” involved.
- I hope that action is facilitated by distributing notes, attendee list, and recommendations for next steps.
- It would have been nice if we could have had more politicians here. I wander if having a shorter session might help to get them out? I hope we will see the implementation ideas and next steps coordinated and published and well distributed (to more than just today’s participants). The speakers were all very interesting and informative – congratulations!
- I hope to see the entire list of visions on the “living Houston” website. Also, I would like those same organizations to update your list on a regular basis. Some thoughts: list to emulate booklet; groups to include links to their sites (webbing?); include examples of past/present/future projects; photos. Work hard to have someone from each organization update information on the website. This is a wonderful opportunity to create a resource center, on-line. A project director for an organization could e-mail meeting schedules, general announcements, public involvement opportunities or areas of concern. Excellent meeting. I will work hard to continue the momentum.
- Have another meeting with invitees of all towns and county officials (and others missing here today). Have them do our exercises that we did today and hear the results of this meeting.
- If you really want this to be implemented, it’s got to have buy-in from the community (real people) and public officials. In order to make this happen, public officials should be invited to participate (like today!) and be expected to participate. Unseal the vacuum. Ditto media – you need coverage.
- Great job – invite elected officials to these seminars
- Lets get some very specific goals and milestones set up
- I said ok on 2 & 3 because of the perceived lack of participation from city/county officials. Insight from speakers was excellent as well as handouts
- Great job! Well organized and on point. Get the common vision and let the world know about it. Public support and action are a must.
- Good exchange of ideas; should have been publicly noted that city council was in session today; were elected officials invited?
- You should have made us sign in blood.
- Much work remains to be done in developing real policies and implementation strategies. We’ve got a good start – let’s build momentum.
- Let’s get to work! Use us!
- I learned so much! Thank you for doing this – let’s all continue the momentum.
- Need better facilitation in small groups – what report will follow? What are the next steps?
